Putting Sterilisation Solutions into Practice
The publication, in November 2009, of the Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 01-05 – Decontamination in Primary Care Dental Practices has brought about significant changes to raise the quality of decontamination of instrumentation to reduce possible risk of infection.
This document, now also being used by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as an audit tool in assessing suitability of registration of healthcare providers, defines clearly the requirement for the physical segregation of clean and dirty instruments, their decontamination processing and storage.
